Liefhebben
Een biechtstoel met een ongewone aankleding. Een stroom van rode draden die uitlopen in schelpen, een krachtig symbool voor liefhebben: goddelijke liefde en menselijke naastenliefde. Deze installatie van Obed Vleugels met 700 schelpen en 2 km. touw staat in relatie tot de biechtstoel en het gewelf erboven. De drie verticale rode draden verwijzen naar God, Jezus en de Geest, die Liefde zijn. De horizontale draden staan voor communicatie en verbinding tussen mensen: denk aan het kinderspel van telefoneren met een draad en twee bekertjes. De schelpen verwijzen ook naar het Rubens’ schilderij en de doopkapel. De biechtstoel is tenslotte de plek waar een band wordt gelegd tussen vergeven en liefhebben.

Un confessionnal à la décoration insolite. Un flot de fils rouges se déversant dans des coquillages, un puissant symbole d’amour : l’amour divin et la charité humaine. Cette installation d’Obed Vleugels, composée de 700 coquillages et de 2 km de corde, est liée au confessionnal et à la voûte qui le surplombe. Les trois fils rouges verticaux font référence à Dieu, Jésus et l’Esprit, qui sont l’Amour. Les fils horizontaux représentent la communication et la connexion entre les personnes : pensez au jeu d’ enfant qui consiste à parler au téléphone avec un fil et deux gobelets. Les coquilles font également référence à la peinture de Rubens et à la chapelle baptismale. Enfin, le confessionnal est le lieu où s’établit le lien entre pardonner et aimer.

Loving
A confessional with an unusual decoration. A stream of red threads spilling out into shells, a powerful symbol of love: divine love and human charity. This installation by Obed Vleugels with 700 shells and 2 km. of rope is related to the confessional and the vault above it. The three vertical red threads refer to God, Jesus and the Spirit, who are Love. The horizontal threads represent communication and connection between people: think of the children’s game of talking on the phone with a wire and two cups. The shells also refer to Rubens’ painting and the baptismal chapel. Finally, the confessional is where a connection is made between forgiving and loving.
